Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy offers a compassionate space where your voice is heard, allowing us to build a practice that evolves with you collaboratively. We celebrate your strength and embrace your unique self. Utilizing a blend of yoga and evidence-based techniques,
we create a holistic therapeutic approach to address a range of conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, cancer, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and other challenges that affect your quality of life.

Yoga therapy enriches your life by providing tools such as physical forms, movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and meditation. These resources support your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, creating a space for you to tap into your inner wisdom and empowering you to achieve your personal goals.

A significant aspect of how yoga therapy can alleviate suffering is through the regulation of the nervous system. Conditions like chronic pain, stress, depression, anxiety, and inflammatory diseases can overburden your sympathetic nervous system (SNS)—the part of your body that activates the fight/flight/freeze response. Although necessary for survival, prolonged activation of the SNS can lead to increased inflammation and a host of negative effects on your health. Transitioning to the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), or the rest/digest state, is crucial as it helps reduce inflammation and promotes relaxation, allowing the body, mind, and spirit to heal. Regular practice of yoga, including techniques like breath synchronization, meditation, and yoga nidra, can enhance your ability to engage the PNS, empowering you to become an active participant in your healing process.

While yoga therapy is powerful, it is not intended to cure illnesses or replace other treatments. Instead, it is an integral part of a broader health and wellness framework, aimed at meeting your needs and honouring your individuality. Should your needs exceed what yoga alone can provide, I am here to work alongside or refer you to other health professionals to support you on your healing journey.
